Hot Rize is a bluegrass band that rose to prominence in the early 1980s. Established in 1978, Charles Sawtelle on acoustic guitar, Tim O'Brien on mandolin and fiddle, Pete Wernick on banjo and Nick Forster on bass. Washboard Chaz lived in Boulder, CO from 1975-1997, and played with a wide variety of bands including the legendary Ophelia Swing Band, Prosperity Jazz Band, BBQ Bob & Washboard Chaz.
